PCL nursing license exam questions: choose the right subjects
For PCL, start with Fundamentals, Adult and Geriatric Nursing, Midwifery and Gynecology, and Community Health Nursing, while revising the remaining syllabus domains too. A small shared-foundations preview cannot replace a complete PCL study plan.
BSc nursing license exam questions: keep the broader syllabus
B.Sc. candidates also need research and biostatistics, educational science, management and health economics, and nutrition. The B.Sc. syllabus is different from PCL, even though several nursing concepts overlap. Use your own qualification’s guideline and practice track.
Old question PDFs and YouTube model sets: what was found?
Public nursing exam collections and YouTube lessons are available, including videos labelled as B.Sc. model exams and PCL license preparation. In the NNC pages checked for this guide, we did not find a verified public archive of official past papers. An upload labelled “old question”, “2081” or “2082” does not establish that NNC published or endorsed it.
Use a video or recalled question to identify a topic, then check its answer against current teaching and the official syllabus. We have not reproduced third-party question sets here. The linked examples are unofficial study material, not verified exam papers or reviewed answer keys.

Try 8 questions with answers
Use this short set to identify concepts to revise. Continue in the app by choosing PCL Nursing or BSc Nursing and checking the practice content available for that category.
These eight questions are original Yashi Academy educational practice, not official NNC past questions or a full mock exam. Seven cover shared nursing foundations; one illustrates the B.Sc. research and biostatistics domain. They do not represent the full syllabus or predict an exam result. 1. A nurse has visibly soiled hands after care. Which hand-hygiene method is appropriate?
- Wash with soap and water
- Use only a dry tissue
- Put clean gloves over the soiled hands
- Wait until the end of the shift
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: Wash with soap and water
Visible soiling calls for soap and water. Alcohol-based hand rub is preferred in many other clinical situations when hands are not visibly soiled; gloves do not replace hand hygiene.
CDC: clinical hand hygiene guidance (opens in a new tab)2. For which patients should standard precautions be used?
- Only patients with a confirmed infection
- All patients, regardless of known infection status
- Only patients in isolation rooms
- Only patients receiving injections
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: All patients, regardless of known infection status
Standard precautions apply to every patient. The protective measures used for a particular task depend on the anticipated exposure, rather than waiting for an infection diagnosis.
CDC: standard precautions (opens in a new tab)3. Two injections are being prepared for two different patients. Which practice is correct?
- Reuse the syringe if only the needle is changed
- Use a new sterile needle and syringe for each injection
- Share a syringe when the medicine is the same
- Rinse the used syringe with water before reuse
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: Use a new sterile needle and syringe for each injection
A used syringe or needle can transmit infection. Changing only the needle does not make a used syringe safe for another patient. Each injection requires a new sterile set.
CDC: safe injection practices (opens in a new tab)4. Immediately before a surgical incision, what should the team confirm together?
- Only the planned discharge date
- Only the number of beds on the ward
- The patient’s identity, procedure and operative site
- Only the patient’s postoperative meal preference
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: The patient’s identity, procedure and operative site
The WHO Surgical Safety Checklist includes a shared confirmation of the patient, procedure and incision site before the incision. It is a team safety check rather than an assumption based on memory.

Download Yashi Academy5. For a stable, healthy term newborn with no clinical reason to delay, when should breastfeeding start when possible?
- After 24 hours
- Within the first hour after birth
- After a routine prelacteal feed
- At the first visit after discharge
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: Within the first hour after birth
WHO and UNICEF recommend initiation within the first hour. This question describes a stable newborn; individual clinical circumstances can require a different care plan.
WHO: infant and young child feeding (opens in a new tab)6. Which routine feeding pattern describes exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months?
- Breast milk plus daily water
- Breast milk plus fruit juice
- Breast milk without other routine foods or drinks
- Breast milk plus solids from two months
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: Breast milk without other routine foods or drinks
Exclusive breastfeeding means no additional routine food or drink, including water. WHO recommends this for the first six months, followed by appropriate complementary food while breastfeeding continues.
WHO: infant and young child feeding (opens in a new tab)7. A nurse removes gloves after care involving a body-fluid exposure risk. What is required next?
- Skip hand hygiene if the gloves looked intact
- Perform hand hygiene immediately
- Touch clean equipment before hand hygiene
- Wait until the next shift
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: Perform hand hygiene immediately
Gloves are not a substitute for hand hygiene. Clean hands after removing gloves, using the method appropriate to visible soiling and the clinical situation.
CDC: clinical hand hygiene guidance (opens in a new tab)8. Four learners scored 6, 8, 10 and 12 on a short practice exercise. What is the arithmetic mean?
- 8
- 9
- 10
- 36
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: 9
Add all four scores: 6 + 8 + 10 + 12 = 36. Divide by the number of learners: 36 ÷ 4 = 9. This is an original calculation exercise for the B.Sc. research and biostatistics domain.

Frequently asked questions
Are these official NNC old questions?
No. These are original Yashi Academy practice questions with explanations. They are not described as questions recalled from an NNC exam or as an official past paper.
Is this a free nursing mock test?
This page offers eight free practice questions without signup. It is a short learning preview, not a timed 150-question mock. Full nursing mocks use the access option shown in the app, such as a subscription or coins.
Can PCL and BSc Nursing students use the same questions?
Some foundational topics overlap, which this preview illustrates. The official PCL and B.Sc. examinations have different subject distributions, so use separate study plans and the app category matching your qualification.
Where can I download the nursing license syllabus PDF?
The official resources on this page link directly to NNC’s separate PCL and B.Sc. Nursing guideline PDFs. Check the latest council notices for updates before your exam.
How should I review a wrong answer?
Read the explanation and source, name the underlying syllabus topic, and write why your chosen option did not fit. Revisit that concept later with a different question instead of only remembering the answer letter.
